Rosie Salcido-Schmidt

Rosie Salcido-Schmidt met her Canadian husband in her home of Mexico. Although they had planned to continue living in Mexico after getting married, they decided to move back to Canada as it was easier for him to get a job here. It was a natural choice for them to settle in Peterborough as her husband had relatives in the area and she wanted to be close to family.

Due to popular demand and in the collaborative spirit at the heart of the Peterborough Welcome Pass, we have added this new feature to our communications.


This month, we are proud to acknowledge the Kawartha Youth Orchestra. They have a mandate train and give back to youth in our region.The diversity of community is reflected in the talented youth who perform with the orchestra. As a sponsor of the Peterborough Welcome Pass, they provide a 75% discount to Welcome Pass holders.

Feb 26: Sounds of Spring Concert at Market Hall

Join the Kawartha Youth Orchestra for the second concert of their 10th anniversary season to hear “Sounds of Spring” at 3pm on Sunday, February 26th at Market Hall Theatre. Enjoy the warmth & music of France, as our region’s youth perform some of the greatest music ever written – including music by Satie, Offenbach, Bizet, and more! Tickets are available by phone from the KYO office at (705) 931-7539. Don’t forget: kids and Peterborough Welcome Pass holders are only $5! Feb 27: Educational Workshop for Grade 7 to 12 Students & Music teachers:

The Kawartha Youth Orchestra is excited to share with you a musical opportunity coming to Market Hall in the form of its annual Outreach concert series!  This February event is perfect for Grade 7 thourgh 12 students who have started band instruments and best of all – it’s free!
